fitting part worns...

Is it legal to do this, ive got some part worn tyres i want fittign for a trackday on wednesday, but ive got a feeling garages are now refusing to do this ?

shouldn't have a problem - anyone who refuses is probably just trying to sell you new tyres!

If the tyres are still within legal limits (have a legal amount of tread left) then yes you can. Some garages will be funny about fitting tyres beyond the limit, even if you tell them its for track use, for fear of being prosecuted should you use them on road and the tyre fail.

ah ok cool, got some with about 5mm left so thats fine, ill go wave a couple of notes in front of them tomorrow

I've found that so long as the rims aren't on the car, and you aren't asking them to fit anything at all to the car, they'll fit any tyre regardless of condition. I'm always getting tyres swapped and turned on rims...some of them are shocking, but they've always obliged.

So long as you ask nicely enough and contribute to their Xmas drinks fund that is.

Ok, ive no other vehicle so will just have to try and get them to do them and fit them back onto the car. there directionals too so hopefully wont be a prob.

Never had a prob, boy fitted 4 tyres and balanced them for me for the price of a couple of packs of fags.
