firstly take the spacers off, and then take the car to a paint shop and ask them what can be done. also ask them if they can modify the rear arches to take the spacers.

If the spacers don't fit properly, then u should take them off (which u have)

What is flaking? The body work or the wheels?

looks like u need to sand and repaint

paints not bonded to the metal

what he said, it really needs to be sanded back to where its bonded correctly.. take it back to the body shop who sprayed it, they should fix this free of charge as its a fault with the respray

thats assuming you did have the whole car resprayed if not.. speak to renault.. dont they have a 10 yr paint warrenty?

im sure its in the handbook

10 year paint and rust warenty, dont quote me on that tho

lol.

I highly doubt that. 3 years at most anti-corrosion, and it has to be from the inside-out, as opposed to flaking paint. Otherwise we'd be doing a lot of Renaults free of charge. That's bodyshop material mate. Stonechips cause that over time too.

Will i be able to tell if its been repaired?

Maybe, depends how well it has been done. Have a close look at the flaking paint and see if you can see a 2nd layer of laquer/paint stuck to the bits that are peeling off. Have a look around the whole panel, all edges for signs of a fade out or laquer line that hasn't been polished out properly (more than likely near the lips of the window, as it's hard to move the rubber out of the way, so peel the rubber back with a blunt knife or peice of plastic and have a look for a rough edge).

Come on man, it's a nice car and the longer you leave it the worse it'll get. If it starts creeping round and rust starts threading it's way round you're going to be crying. If you're tight for cash you might get away with sanding down the arch and only spraying that, but it's obviously at the bodyshops discretion. I wouldn't expect to pay more than £80 for that, tops. Go and get quotes, and specifically say you don't the panel done, just the arch lip itself.

I might say the wings etc have faded over time ;)

i'd run a blade round the edge about 5mm in, cut off all the s**t paint, sand it, acid etch it then paint it with some white hammerite or similar, it'll be reet then
