flaking

im getting my car colour coded soon, but i was just wondering the bits that are getting coded, are they prone to flaking or anything?

also, my clio is a black 1.6, so would it be pearl black or black gold...? i havent a clue

have a look on the inside of your drivers door apiture for a colour code. if there is a code anywhere that says nv676 then it is black pearl. as for the colour coding, is it plastic parts you are doing? if so then you will need to plastic primmer them before you use a normal primer or they will flake. also make sure you key the surfaces proply to ensure that the paint sticks and that will also help stop it flaking.

Whos doing it? You of a garage etc? Remember with older plastic trims, they have probably been dressed with oily bumper gels in the past. The oils can soak into the plastic making keying of primer quite hard. Make sure they are properly degreased etc

yeah it is just the naff looking plastic bits along the doors and on the front and rear bumper.

took it to a garage today and they said they would do it for 200, which isnt too bad. so hopefully they know what they are doing as i dont really have time to do it!!

shame you are so far away mate i could probly get that done for alot less than that. ask around though. you sould get it cheaper. also ask how much for a cash job as they may not charge you for the vat on top

Im a painter I would do it for about £100 on the side but your too far away arnt ya!! Never mind, not a bad price though mate!! Just hope they make sure they degrease/panel wipe em properly before priming them - otherwise it will be a silicone fest and the paint will separate! lol, I wouldnt worry pal if its a proper bodyshop they will know what they are doing and if it does flake at the jet wash take it back and complian!! They should do it again for free, I would!!
