Flat spots in my 172

I am experiencing flat spots in power as i drive down the road, i can be driving down the road then all of a sudden i lose power for a few seconds then the power cums bk agen and my car cuts out quite often as a result of this.
Any ideas as to what the problem is would be much apprieciated.

I had a similar issue and it was the fuel pump don't know if that will help you though.

How did ya find out it was that? How much to get it fixed?

In the end it just refused to start because the fuel pressure was so low/none at all, so my mate towed it to his garage and diagnosed it as the pump cost about 150£ iirc.

one of my mates sed it could be the coilpack. cud that cause my problems?

I had similar, does it sound rough when you loose power? ended up been the Lambda sensor on mine.

would i not have a light or sumin cum on the dash board?
