FLATSPOT

  used to drive a clio16v

recently my valver seems to hesitate slightly when accelerating through the rev range, the best way i can descibe it is having a flatspot - i cant say at exactly what rpm it happens, although it does seems to vary a bit. The weird thing is its just had a full service! it seem to be running well before i took it in, now it doesnt accelerate so smoothly :(

i would have assumed if anything that it shud be running better after a service, new plugs, oil, filters etc. anyone know what it could be?

the only thing i can think of that is different from when it went in is the oil - was using GTX Magnatec but supplied some Car Lube 15w50 full-synthetic oil for the service, surely the type of oil used cant make such a difference?!

please help i need my beast back to full power again!!! goin santapod soon!

My valver started idling badly after one of its services (in turn affecting performance) and had both me and my mate (mechanic) stumped.

I recently find it out to be oil in the spark plug chamber. When putting oil in, if you spill any, itll find its way down the plug wells.

Just take every lead out and clean it with some kitchen roll. Youll have to do this before/after every drive about 4/5 times to make sure you get all the oil out.

After wifeys clio was serviced in Basingstoke, it was really lumpy on the way home. One of the spark plug cables was disconnected.

looked for any oil in the sparkplug chambers, found a very small amount nothing out of the ordinary but cleaned it up anyway - so problem was still there afterwards. strange thing is after givin it sum stick down the motorway upto about 120mph (running late!) it seems to be running fine now! :D so im happy, duno what it could have been blocked injector or sumink, beats me- well weird but i aint complaining just glad its sorted itself out

by the way id definately reccomend the oil im using - its great at dampening down the noise of the tappets! engine seems much quieter
