^^ yes that is correct. not sure if its F5, but when its first loading drivers it says press '???' now if you have any 3rd party drivers to install!

IIRC you press f5 to load the drivers ?? while its on the first blue installation screen... somone correct me if im wrong its soo long since I installed windows on anything.

Before loading the windows install it'll say "Press F^ to install 3rd party drivers"

Press "F6" (or whatever key it tells you to)

Insert a floppy disk (or CD?) with the mobo's sata drivers loaded on to it - usually available from manufacturer's website (iirc XP SP2 install disk has a few on it already).

Select the driver and let windows do the rest

Cant you put windows XP cd in ....boot up Laptop.....delete partition and then format drive afetr creating the partition again?????

XP wont see the drive without the drivers telling it it's there.
