Got fed up with people using the Exocet last night which is a solid Leaderboard car and won with a 14 second gap to 2nd place. I don't tend to like doing that as it's boring just sitting out up front but sometimes it has to be done 😂

Ram the Exocets off, annoying little pricks

Haha the temptation is strong but I don't want to hurt the safety rating even though I don't think it makes a difference anyway. I had to at least just give it a try though. It should be banned from MP like the Lotus 340r used to be.

Lol - how come that got banned?
Presumably because the publisher have absolutely zero clue about balancing and that car happened to be by far the best in class, hence why everyone was using it. Easier to ban it than fix your game I guess

At the time for MP I think most open wheel cars were removed from the class hoppers because they could be easily punted off track from minimal contact but it also just so happened the Lotus was a top LB car.

You can't really expect every car to be balanced surely? When you get a car built for the track vs a road car which is modified the track car will obviously dominate.

The issue is the class based lobbies which in fairness they've tried to phase out but it's a massively popular mode and most the player base love it including myself but obviously at times the balancing is off but I think that's pretty expected in class based. Generally the lobbies are really well mixed and some surprisingly good racing can come out of it.

Obviously I wouldn't expect every car in a class to be balanced, but if you're pulling 14 seconds over second place then either matchmaking is wrong or the car balancing is. If it's consistently one car that's in first place surely that suggests the car isn't balanced, rather than the player skill level?

Did you also see the Exo down in 8th? Lol a good car will only get you so far so I don't think it's consistently winning but when you get someone who is at least semi decent it can be frustrating to race against.. I doubt most people are getting a 1:30 on that track in that car tbh I'd have to check where that would stand on the LB but maybe top 100 🤷‍♂️.

I don't think it'd hurt to remove it from class based lobbies as far as balancing I dont think they would or even should change it now because the car should be handling like its on rails that's the point lol the game would feel a bit dumb if a MK2 golf can keep up with a Exocet track car 😂

You've never seen the Pinderwagen then 😂

Made the jump onto the Forza bandwagon last night with Horizon 4 in the current Steam Summer Sale.

I like how I can detach my brain and literally just race about with different cars, without any of the seriousness and concentration required of the likes of ACC.

Apparently it's being withdrawn from sale by the end of this year too - so if you want it, maybe now's the time to nab it?

So I decided to see what that Exocet can do on VIR North as above. As expected 1:30 is up there in the top 100 easily but I managed to improve on that a bit 👀

Also a quick hot lap in this RS4 Avant for fun. For some reason all the LB got wiped for Nurburgring and Laguna Seca which is a bit annoying but gives the chance to go and set some times again. 7:07 for this one which isn't great for S class but not bad for the car I think.

Good effort that I can never get into making good liveries. I've tried a few times spend ages and they always look crap 😂

I can spend ages making logos but I never know what to fill the rest of the space with, luckily this looks decent with the tic tac spam.

Is there any way to run against your ghost car?

I fired this up for the weekend and I've decided I'm not very good. I'm down to light assists but still have the braking line on as I don't know the tracks, so I'd like to get a bit of practice in and chasing a ghost has always worked well for me.

If you find the "Rivals" mode that's pretty awesome for smashing out laps. Basically gives you a new player ghost from the leaderboard every time you beat the previous one.

Yeah Rivals set a time and then go into the leaderboard and select your time and you should be able to race against your own ghost. You can do the same against anyone too always a good way to find a bit more time by chasing a faster ghost.

Another update this week. Happy to see Road Atlanta back as it's always been one of my favourites on Forza. Should have been in from the start but is what it is now. Hammered some of the rivals spending an hour+ chasing just a few tenths I always wonder why I do it to myself but it's always worth it once you nail a lap.

I've been giving this a good bash, only played career mode but when I started I was getting most 6's on the segments I'm now comfortably able to get 8s on anything but hairpins and tight slow corners/chicanes. If I really push I can get 9's but the chances of me completing a whole lap are not great..

Not sure if that is any good but I feel like it is progress.

One thing that really pisses me off though is f**king race suits? Don't give a s**t, at what point did you stop winning cars?

Adamm.

That must be the segment score thing? I honestly don't really pay attention to it too much and tend to look for the split time from my best lap so far which will pop up throught the lap. If you're improving score then that's definitely a good sign. Practice definitely makes perfect with this game it'll get to the point you'll know the track like the back of your hand and you'll be able to nail most corners.

They seem to be adding quite a few driver suits lately but they're a bit boring and meaningless. I wouldn't mind if they actually gave you some challenges to earn them and makes some harder so it feels like you actually achieve something.

That is the problem with career mode I think. There are so many tracks just thrown at you that you'll never learn, I do the practice laps that are required that gets me 80% knowing the track but as soon as I am on to the next one I come back to a previous one and forget it all.

I've not played a Gran Turismo game since GT4 but that was awesome, not sure if that still plays the same but Forza seems a bit ultra dull up to what I remember with License, race series, length of races and all that for single player.

I'm going to sound old now but since when did games become so social? I still prefer sitting in my bedroom playing with myself.

That last sentence 😂. Forza has always been quite casual in that sense you can just jump in and get straight to it. GT does feel more in-depth. Horizon probably hasn't done Motorsport any favours in that way as they probably want Horizon players to cross over and don't want to make it too hardcore. They have at least introduced qualifying/practice etc but it still just doesn't hit the spot imo.

I do think FM8 is the best version of Forza since FM4. It's a shame they are drip feeding content we should have had from day 1 but then again it brings me back after the odd break and keeps the game somewhat fresh.

Completely forgot there was a Jenson Button challenge coming up. Love these sort of rivals. I do wonder if its a genuine Jenson time but I'll take the rewards for that one thanks 😂

A classic Forza track back today.. Sunset Peninsula Raceway. A lot of Forza nostalgia with this track. Another solid update tbh.

I decided last night to stop playing with myself and jumped into multiplayer, what a good laugh that is. Onl;y did two of the qualifying races I needed but I reckon this multiplayer thing could catch on, was so much better racing.

One problem I had is that my wireless headphones don't work in multiplayer, I get like a weird crackling sound. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? It is just set of headphones with no mic.

Not sure about the cracking sound. It wasn't someone else in the lobby was it? You can mute people when you pause game it'll show a little speaker next to their name if audio is coming from them but if it's not that it seems like it the headphone as I've never heard of any issues from audio in MP only.

Multiplayer can be a lot of fun though you always get a few dickheads who absolutely refuse to give up position or just smash their way through but most the time if you keep it clean then the racing can be really fun and more challenging. Penalty system can be hit or miss 95% of the time it seems decent enough. I like the multi class and class based lobbies the most.

Muted everyone in the lobby, even the music when waiting in the lobby is bad. No idea, will continue with the monitor sound for now and keep trying.

I feel like I've hit my limit of talent though, can get consistent lap times but just not get any quicker. Must be my technique or lack of.

Yeah no idea about the mic seems an odd one tbh could check settings.

Haha yeah everyone has their limit. Rivals is best place to get faster I think but can be difficult to translate some of that into actual races as you have to account for other cars.

Jumped back in to completing single player tonight, stopped because I had a load of US muscle to complete, just grinding through it now.

It's annoying how the AI seem to start with warm tyres, every lap 1 I'm bambi on ice and they have grip.

Yeah I mostly play FH5 but I have dabbled in this one too, the first race I did was hilarious, I couldn't keep the car straight and volley'd myself into the Armco several times. I'm more tuned into it now and find it very rewarding on rivals etc. Especially like the Nürburgring!

There was a class I spent ages doing in a mx5 rivals on lime I'll dig it out.. I think it might have been lime rock park
