Freeview + Recordable DVD

  CLIOpatra, L22EE W™
Need a bit of advise really!

I am thinking about getting a recordable DVD player, to record the shows I miss while @ work. I know that on a video player, that you can record BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV, and Channel 4 (aka 01, 02, 03, 04 and so on....)

But how could I set up the DVD recorder, so I can record the other 30+ channels that I have got on my freeview box, via the AV channel? I have tired setting it up on my video player, but not really had any luck.

Anyone know what I am trying to gain?

Well I have not bought the DVD recorder yet. Just wanted to check if it was possible to do so, before buying one.

I would suggest if you can afford, to go for a HD/DVD recorder instead of a DVD stand-alone .. ;)
I've got a DVD recorder and it gets a pain when you run out of cd space.

its easy to do what you want to accomplish as long as the freeview box allows you to time your programmes, i set the timer to be the right channel at certain times on my freeview box and then just set the dvd recorder to record the AV channel at the right times and the freeview box handles the rest by changing the channel as per my timer settings.

Works fine, not quite as easy as sky + but its ok for if you don't want or can't get sky like me.

just bought a panasonic dvd recorder. If you autoview programmes on Sky, it automatically starts/stops recording ! No timers to faff about with, really impressed with it.
