Freeview

I have a pet hate of having loads of different remote controls.

Now if i want to get Freeview is there anyway i can use it without having to use the shitty little freeview remote controls.

Was thinking one of them one4all remotes would be ok but they all look naff.

another question.

Why do tv's have 100+ channels yet through terrestrial only 5 channels tune in leaving the other 95+ doing nothing?

Another thing aswell, on our house we have a sky dish now if i bought a sky box off ebay could i do anything with it?

if uve got a sky dish i think u will be able to get all the freeview channels that sky have. BBC channels ITV channels, auctions channels that sort of stuff.

Without a subscription you won't get any use from it. Get free sat. :)

I can control my TV all from my Sky remote. My normal TV remote is in the cupboard. 1 remote. :)

If you use a sky box without a card you get all BBC channels, ITV channels, Channel 4 (not E4), and a few others, on Freeview you get over 80 channels, some are topup channels but the main channels are available, plus film4 is starting at the end of the month.

Just read about tuning the sky box in, it seems without a subscription i would recieve all these Free To Air channels - http://www.vowles-home.demon.co.uk/Sat/SkyFTA.htm

Which seems better than Freeview, and as darth said i can tune the sky remote to control the TV which suits me. Also when i can afford it i can buy a card from sky and subscribe.

To run a sky + box a different mini dish is needed and two cables needs to be run from it with a twin-output LNB, and to record the Free To Air channels i would need to pay sky £10. Apparently most sky operators dont know about this but its true.

I get more channels now on freeview than when I was running my skybox after I cancelled my subscription, like I said before you'll get all the BBC channels, all ITVs, channel 4 (no E4) and few other on a sky box with no card, no where near what you'll receive on a freeview box and decent aeriel. Plus the picture is actually better from my freeview box!

I have a thomson TV and my thomson freeview box has the same remote, so i binned the old telly one and use my freeview remote, sorted.

Maybe so, however being that we have a dish and after pricing things up it seems a better idea to get free sky

Dish - £0
Box - £20
Card - £10

------------

Freeview Box - £30 - £50

So all in all a bit cheaper and with the card you get more channels that freeview

Plus with the sky remote you can use the 1 remote which makes me happy.
