From Start...To 'Finish'- End Of The Road For Reno Ownership...(56k erm nope!)

Car  EP3 Civic Type R
Sorry about the long thread...read at will, or just look at pics. I read alot of posts on here but rarely get much chance to post- so I guess i'm making up for it now!

I bought the Clio Standard apart from being fitted with 17'' Mille Miglia Alloys and a full stainless steel Magnex Exhaust system in March of 2005 and instantly fell in love with it. I didnt just go on looks as they are far from the prettiest of cars, but the performance of them along with there rarity around where I live swayed me to them...

A snapped front spring meant I needed to source some new front springs ASAP and I decided to get some lowering ones, nothing to serious- so I went for a 35mm drop.

Just after the spring went the gearbox decided to chew up a bearing. I was heartbroken, but a week later and a re-built gearbox and all was well again...

After this I decided that the 17's were to much for such a small car and the lowering just made it worse, so I sold them on and bought some 15'' Team Dynamics Monza's

I then set about working on making the engine even more clean than it already was. The car was stripped down, bonnet off, parts off and all were either cleaned or sprayed along with the rub strips down the side of the car.

Then came the torsion bar lowering, along with new centre caps for the wheels and a few interior changes.

Personal reg was bought at Xmas '05 and just finished off the exterior.

Recently there have been a few new parts ordered. A whole load of new Jubilee clips, hose tighteners and nuts and bolts for the engine bay to finish off the look as well as these which should be fitted by next week.

Really enjoyed owning this car, more than even the Nova's which most people thought i'd never put. It's fast (Rolling roaded at 141bhp @ the Fly) it looks good, is pretty rare and I've never got bored of it.

I am now looking for a mint Escort/ Fiesta RST (don't mock my choice, I have wanted one since I was 8 years old and am know financially secure!) and will probably be selling the Clio in the coming months, as I already have a 306d Turbo to fix and use as a secondry car. When I do sell it, it will be greatly missed as i've enjoyed every moment of owning it :D

Cheers for reading/looking

mint that, dunno if i'd be looking at either rs turbos, they will be rotten, especially the escorts... and wont handle neary as well....

As i've said... don't mock my choice lol! It's a 'dream' car i've wanted since I was 8 years old. They arn't all rotten by any means...same as anything- its how long i'm willing to look and how much I'm willing to pay. I will wait until a mint standard one comes about.

thanks for comment on the valver- if I could afford to keep that as well I would- but it would be silly having 3 cars!

Really nice valver matey, hope you get what you want for it! i must admit that i was looking at the RST escort as well, its not the best car in world, but there's something about them. And i've always wanted one! Its just that i do 25k miles a year and the realibility was an isssue therefore i needed a newer car. Anyways i'm rambling, hope you find a good, clean, unmolested example. :)

Not rambling at all, its nice to hear what other people think. I do around 12k a year...reliability is an issue, but we own french cars so we're used to it ;) hehe

Awesome valver mate..... looks superb... best of look with the future choice.

lol, tbh, there is deffo somethong about a frst, black with quad headlights, dropped on standard rims look awsome

just be careful with the escorts, my mate brought one.... looked in mint condition, but the rear chassis legs were shafted, and the more of the kit that come away.... the more rust was found. sold it in the end

good luck chap

cars lookin nice as allways mish:approve: will be even nicer with the new shocks
id allways wanted a rst but went for the willy for reliability :clown:

u know wot u are lookin for next and i know u will do it proud

good luck chap

Would it shock you to no I'm a 19 year old girl who doesn't have a boyfriend to do my car lol?!

As for the S1...would love one, but it would be a dailyish drive and wouldnt want to ruin an S1 by turning it into a workhorse!

Mercury grey S2 gets my vote too, my friend just got rid of her minter but it wasn't at the right time for me

Isn't the first time, won't be the last...just thought it was about time i 'came out' haha!!! ;)

I miss my ERST :( but it didn't handle anywhere near as well as the valver! You'll enjoy it though - apart from the 240 miles to a tank of super, the constant paranoia that it will go walkies when you aren't looking, the worry that the engine will go bang when you've modified it, the fact you'll keep getting pulled... LOL

That said, I'd have one again tomorrow if I had the money to get a good one and keep up with the bills! :D

Looks a great example, shame you will be selling up, hope you find a RS as nice.

Would love a mint S1, not such a fan of the S2's.

first serious car was a RS1600i MK3 escort Loved it till it got stolen, spent ££££££ on getting 135 bhp from the CVH!

There are a few mint series 1 RSTs going about but you WILL pal 4-5 k for one.

If your after a Escort rst then just find one with a good body.A brand new engine from a dealer is just over £600.My mate did this and had his running 200+bhp and it was fault free for 2 years before he sold it on ...peace of mind if you ask me...
