Front End Creaking Low Speed

Hi Guys

I've done a good search already, but I can't find any solutions.

Whenever I reverse slowly I get a constant creaking sound from the front end while I'm moving, and then when I stop the noise stops. As I drive forward at low speed turning I get the creaking too. This happens every morning, but after a minutes driving I don't get it any more.

I've also noticed that I have a slight squeeking sound from the front end when going over speed bumps.

I didn't have either of these at the start of the year and they are getting worse.

The vehicle is an 02 Mk2 172 on Sportlines.

Any suggestions? Any visual checks I can carry out?

I had what sounds like the same problem on my 182 trophy, as the car was under warrenty the dealers sorted this out. They replaced one of the front ball joint and it stopped the problem. I would check for play in the joint.
