Front RT speakers

Ive got 4" JBLs in the dash and 6" kenwoods in the doors. I was looking at the wiring diagram and it look as if both these speakers run off the same wire from the stereo. Has anybody fitted crossovers to the front speakers to split up the signal. I think it would make sense because the smaller speakers in the dash would cope better with the higher notes and the larger speakers in the door would give better bass. Currentley the small speakers are trying to do bass and the large speakers are trying to do high sounds.

I had a look at doing something similar in mine but the cabling is a b*****d to follow. Also, where the speaker cable goes from the car body to the door, its a plug in connector as oppossed to the wire going straight through. What I did was put a crossover at the point where the speaker cable comes out of the Head Unit. I then ran separate wires to the tweeters that I put in the dash.

Its a bit diificult to explain, Ill see if I can do some sort of diagram and post that up.

The best option really, and the one Im going to do over christmas, is to get an amp and put a crossover on the speaker cables running from that. Either way its a fiddly job!

If i wana change the front speakers will it be ok just to change the ones in the doors and is it just a case of unscrewing the old ones and detatching the wires, then putting the new ones in?

Also could someone please explain to me wht crossovers are.

Cheers Phil

ill have a go at putting the crossover at the headunit. cheers

Crossovers split up the bass and the higher notes. If you have a small speaker they will be able to produce higher sounds better, but will struggle to provide bass. A large speaker will give good bass but poor high pitch sound, unless you get a decent 2-Way or 3-Way setup.

im not sure about changing the speakers mine were already done

is there not some inline resistors in the wiring?
if there is there is a good chance that they have been wired up wrong.
