Yes I know this is an old thorny problem that has been discussed before but having spent a long time on the forum Im not really any wiser.
I have a 2002 172 Cup and there is a very loud bang when you go over a bump especially with a small amount of lock. It sounds very bad. The springs are not broken, the shocks in good condition and the rubbers at the top of the strut under the bonnet look as if they are new. I haven't removed the struts yet.
I put an Allen key in the top and tried to undo the nut but without any success. Is there a trick to this?
Secondly it would appear from some posts that there is a new part from Renault. How do I know which part is fitted to my car?
Some posts also talk about washers,
to fix the problem, but what size are they, where do they go and what function do the washers have?
