Im replacing my front wheel bearing tomorrow, ive never done this on the clio before. Has anyone got any tips or how tos to make sure I do it all right, Do I need any special tools?????
depending on how well the bearing is stuck on mate i would consider using a hefty chisel! i had to do this on my RT. it was a right b**ch to do this way, i suppose a fairly big dousing in wd40 might have helped, anyway mate should be fairly easy todo. have you got the haynes manual??
it took ages to work the bearing off on one side so i decided to leave and go buy a 15quid press and use the vice etc etc on the other side. Mine on the RT were well and truly stuck on and it took ALOT of brute force and slight ignorance to get the damn thing off. It is possible however but it isnt the easiest way! Depends what tools you have access to i suppose.
I would recommend taking the hubs to a garage with a press, they are unlikely to charge more than a tenner for pressing old ones out and new ones in, then go home and reassemble.
If you dont have a press, and then dont apply the correct pressure to the bearing it will work its way lose and go again within a week or so. Id pay the extra and have it sorted properly at a garage with the right tools
