fuel comsuption on 1.6 16v

what do you get day in day out???? my fuel comsuption has gone way dowm avg about 30mpg and thats normal driving, am not booting it at all. on a long run my getting about 40 to 42mpg but havent had that for a while,

what could be wrong??

i go from 26 up to a max of about 38
