Fuel gauge not working

Hello all, after all the much needed advice I received on my non starting problem I have a new one for you all to solve help me with. Since getting car going fuel gauge don't work. We did remove fuel pump unit to check pump was working. Could I of done any thing to cause thee fuel level not to be displayed. I removed again and all is connected and arm moves but couldn't see movement when placed in tank. As tank quite fall so thought might see float rise. Dash fuel level arm does move but never goes past empty and it does have fuel. Needle moves all of 3 mm. Sorry the long story. Thanks all

I'm not uber mechanically minded but may a dash reset do the job.

As in put dash into diagnostic mode using the button on the end of wiper stalk then turn ignition to 2nd turn. Then press the clear button that protrudes from the dials its solved some problems I've had when I wasn't recognizing fuel I had just put in.

Or fill it up with fuel

Tried the quick reset hold in stalk press reset and nothing still the same going put more fuel in see if that helps but tank was very full when I had pump out. Maybe sender unit more expense.
