Fuel guage

does anyone elses not go lower then 1/4tank?? it gets to a smidge under 1/4 then stays there till the orange light comes on. never does the needle go lower though

hmm, picked my car up on thurs - filled it to the brim, drove approx 20miles and the gauge showed i used 1/4 of a tank? either dodgy gauge or very,very thirsty

mine seems to work ok, but it moves up and down quite a bit. Think its the reserve tank!?!?

picked my 172 MK1 up last week. been watching the gauge aswell..

Looked on the fuel consumption gauge said i used 1 gallon but the gauge was reading about 2 notches under?? then it said i used 5.5 gallons but the gauge was again reading bout 1/4 full!!.

220miles on 20 quids worth of juice. (34mpg roughly).

Ive just put it down to the gauge reading under.

Mine works fine. Found gauge moves less on motorways rather than town driving. Doesnt stick and always have about a gallon left when orange light comes on.

Mines sh*te mate.

was less that quarter full so i stuck a tenner in. Didnt move the guage at all but stayed like that for like 3 days. Then the waring light comes on but the guage doesnt move.

mines also sh*t. the warning light only every flickers on and off however long i keep driving it for. (which has been a fair time b4!) and all this time the gauge says it is totally empty.

Also find the gauge moves in stages, not gradually down as the fuel is used!

first half of my tank seems to go very very quickly, but the second half seems to last for aggggggges

thought it was a leak on mine, glad to no its a common problem.

i only bin fiullin up to just over 1/4 tank coz it seems to go down too quick if i fill it fully. he he

I drive my 172 till the fuel light comes on, at which stage I can easily do another 50km - 60km before i actually run out

When you put your foot down the MPG drops onsiderably but when you take her handy it stays sweet

eg: 62.2 MPG combined i think i like it from a 1.5 dci

Yeah I know what you mean sits on 1/4 full mark then bang that little light is blinking and flashing at me like a cheap whore.

Quite weird. How much will people with a 16V get out of a tenner of petrol and what sort of driving??

The petrol used bit on the built in computer is Sh*t, It has never been accurate from the start.

When I fist got my clio 1.2 16v I could easily get 50-60mpg from the first half of the tank by driving granny style, now four months old and 10 000 miles in Im lucky to get 40.... dodgy I know,

Oh well goes back to renault on Wednesday for the third time, this time for the airbag wiring patch and to have new seat handles fitted as one is stupidly stiff and the other snapped due to being stupidly stiff!!!
