Fuel Light

My fuel light is staying on but I have half a tank of petrol.Also on the trip computer where it should say how many miles I have left in the tank it just comes up with dashes instead of a figure.Does this mean the fuel tank sensor is fooked?

Had the car 3 years and its the first fault it has had.

Does the petrol guage show half a tank?
Mine did this a few times I cured it by putting the key in the ignition and holding the button on the end of the wiper stalk and turning they key to 2nd position. When everything starts lighting up press the reset button on the trip computers and it fixed it.

Yeah I know.Its the first foreign car I have had and its been the most reliable.I used to hate the french but I am undecided about them now.lol.

Same problem on mine now did you get it sorted? and how much was a new sensor?
