Fuel price breakdown WTF!!

I now pay 88p per litre for optimax

Government get 65p of this (74%)

Actual cost of fuel is 15p (17%)

Oil company get 8p for transporting fuel to the pumps inc profit (9%)

WHAT A F**KIN JOKE! No wonder people leave this country to live abroad.

Its because we have lower income tax, VAT and corporation tax than comparable countries (quite a lot lower in some cases). Im not saying its the best way of raising tax, as its currently very volatile - but if they chop the tax on fuel it will be raised somehow else.

what about all the tax dodgers, dole dossers, benefit fraud, court cases that cost the tax payer millions. Target all those t*ssers and get some money knocked of for us who actually keep the country afloat. Anywhere between 70-80p I would be happy with.

They could just become aliitle more efficient!!

I am paying 1.02 € per litre for 98 RON Super Unleaded and that price is considered to be "through the roof" here in Spain!

Are we talking optimax? 79p ?? Im in North West near Manchester and i paid 88p per litre beginning of the week, most other shell near by are 90p for optimax. Surely there cant be a 9-11p difference!

I think its total sh*te how much we are ripped off by.Again its the motorist who is easy pickings.Speed limits that are 25 yrs out of date,cameras behind trees,coppers in trees instead of catching real criminals,road tax is going up,petrol,insurance,fines for speeding are going up.

I give it 5yrs and im off to spain or france to live.There contribution to the euro is nothing like they want us to pay so you might aswell go and live somewhere you will get more benefits,cheaper petrol and some sun.If britain goes into europe you can be sure we wont have the same price petrol,fags and booze as them,nothing will change exept tax law which they will control and up it will go
