fuel pump issues

Car  R35 GTR
I think I have figured out why car doesnt start first time....

Cleaned tdc sensor, so ruling that out for now.

Battery voltage is fine.

On start up the car struggles to idle, listening to the fuel pump, it was struggling to pump so i guess this is the problem. But after a few minutes it idles fine.

Are they easy to remove? I've had the cover off under the rear seat and cleaned the connector, but that is as far as I've got with it.

IIRC the fuel pump is all part of the sender unit. Quite tricky to remove from what I've heard but never done it myself. I remember reading about it in a Haynes manual!

I should have an uprated one, so if it's been changed once should be easy to change again....i hope.

Your meant to use a special tool or make one to get the pastic ring that holds it on off. I've managed before by getting a blunt screwdriver and tapping it round though it can break the plastic.

I'll have a look tomorrow, havent seen the ring before.

Yeah it describes the ring removal method in the haynes manual, might be a worthy investment? :)

just had a look. The tool looks easy enough to make, will do it at work next week. I also need to depressurise the fuel system, glad i read the book now!
