Fuel pump the same across the range?

  Astra 1.9Cdti SRi
someone just mentioned to me that their different?

is it true? as i though that the ECU controls the amount of fuel that gets pumped through to the fuel rail to run a car, making the pumps from the lower 1.2 to the higher 2L/v6 the same ...

Surely they'd be different to handle the different capacity. Why would Renault waste money on an overly large fuel pump on a 1.2 that would be big enought to fuel a 3.0?

Not sure, thats why i want to kno 100% that their different so i can purchase one for the car,

just though the ecu controls the flow of which the pump pumps through :S

Fuel pumps are part of the sender unit (within the tank) from memory and generally don't need replacing until silly-high miles.

I didn't think you could buy just a pump?

ECU doesn't control the pump at all. The pump runs at a constant flow rate. I doubt it's the same pump in a 1.2 as a 172 TBH
