Fuel sender fault, can't get the plug off!

  Monaco Ph2 Clio 172
Hi,

I have a fuel sender fault or so I think, petrol light comes on after filling up, mileage remaining display shows dashes etc.
I have reset the trip to clear the fault but it keeps re-occurring. I want to unplug it to clean the connection first but can't for the life of me remove the plug!!!

Am I being a pleb or are these notoriously fiddly? A knack to it at all? I just don't want to break it like I usually end up doing if things aren't going my way:eek:

Cheers

Put your key in the ignition barrel.

Hold down the trip computer button and then turn on the ignition so all lights come on the dash.

Let it do what it's doing for ten seconds, ignition off, then start car.
