How much should i expect to pay ?? Just want metallic black ! mk1 ph3 ! Anyone know any good garages capable of doing this local to birmingham ???

i paid £1800 for a full respray, through cliospares although they use a bodyshop across the road to do the actual spraying.

i got a quote yesterday to get my R5GTT totally resprayed in a pearl black and was told 2K for complete job.

im undecided if i wanna stick with the black... might go for something along the lines of the K-tec coloured R5.. or maybe the orangey metallic paint job on that FTO that was at donny pics forum... sent to me by bubbles

when i asked about maybe a TVR tuscan multi metallic... he said im looking at £100 a litre for that standox paint.. but i dunno how many litres is needed for a spray job

about 3-4 for a 5GTT as its quite a small car..

so about 300-400 quid for paint. when I wanted to get my pug 205 GTi in imperial blue (escort cossie colour) it was gonna be £90 a litre, I got it discounted down to 55/litre.

Dont forget that although the cost of the paint seems fairly cheap, the biggest cost is in labour for the huge length of time it takes to prepare a car, all the rubbing down, removing loads of parts in doors, masking etc etc, inside of the engine compartment needs to be painted too if the car is to be a different colour and so on.........

If you pay cheap, you get cheap!!

So 2k is for a good job ! will they bake it for that price ? is that for good paint aswell or crappy stuff ?
