gear box bangin????

hi when i change gear to slow down i can hear a slight banging comin from the gear box, to me it sounds as though the gear box could be sort of loose, has anybody had the same problem? let me know thanks i have a clio 172 01 plate.

Probably your gearbox Dogbone Mount. Very common on Clios, not just RenaultSport ones either.

Depends.

If you want the OEM Renault part (Renault part number: 8200413526) it's about £30.

If you want the uprated one you'll have to do a bit of DIY and make it up yourself from the PowerFlex fit (http://www.powerflex.co.uk/product-details/Dog+Bone+(Twisted)+Engine+Mount+Bush+Kit/333.html).

It isn't really a big job, if you sign up to be a proper Club Member there is a guide in the Guides section.

Definate gearbox/rear engine mount! Very common! Mine needs replacing at the moment. This was the reason why my exhaust manifold branch snapped at the flange. A major job on the 197's

I think it's less of an issue on the 172/182.

Which type? Renault part you could try your local Renault dealer or eBay.

As for the PowerFlex one, I believe K-Tec keep them in stock.
