The box on my ph1 has sounded like a straight cut on coasting for a while now. Its the original gearbox and has 240,000km on it.
I noticed last night that the whine has gone. Its now been replaced with a dull clicking, knocking, clunking noise on coast. If I leave it in 5th gear, very low revs, no throttle, you hear it.. du du du du du du du du, matching the car speed as it slows down.
So, how much life is left in the box, and what happens when they go?
