gearbox gone i think,gearbox ideas?

gearbox went last night well think it is anyway not had it confirmed,
was wondering about new gearboxes and clutches and i can find standard and uprated clutches on k-tech
but was wondering about a gearbox for my mk2 1.6 16v,found one that says fits clio 1.2,1.4 and 1.6 5 speed,
so are they all using the same i suppose is my first question??

is there any other gearboxes i could be looking out for which could be better than the standard one and if so is there anything else i would need to do to fit it?
already thinking of uprated clutch and short throw quickshift fom k-tech tuning if im away to get a new gearbox i may aswell get a few things done at the same time,
just looking for some good advice

Stock clutch is fine keep with it.

The boxes are all interchangabvle though yep.


Forget looking for a better one the 172 is an option but you havn't the power to need it.

Forget the quick shift the box is rubish anyway rushing it just wears it.

local renualt makie motors wanted 650 to supply gearbox and clutch,
1000 to supply and fit,
no way am i payin that
100 +vat from local scrappys for box
clutch is goin to b bout 80 quid
labour from a mates uncle 75 -100 quid

saving 700 lol.

You can use the final drive ratio of the 1.4 16V gearbox with your 16 16V gearbox, it's better, cheers.

ive heard that all boxes will fit but which one would be better 1.2 or 1.4?

and wot do u mean by use the 1.4 final drive ratio with my 1.6 gearbox its better?

would it be worth it/easy to just recondition my box?

1.4 16v box or 1.5 dci box?,would they both be an option?

Just put a 1.6 JB3 box in it, no point messing about with others.

1.4 gearbox is terrible lol, my old one split open along the casting marks and the syncro was replaced, stick with the 1.6. Final drive in England refers to the size of the wheels and diff not last gear
