my gearbox is now crunchin in 3rd i was wonderin if i can get a second hand box which will be best fitting another 172 box or one out a different engine if they will fit

Get yours rebuilt, you could buy a second hand box only for the same thing to happen again not long after you get it.

rebuild yours as said, second hand box is a waste of time unless you know its good

Rebuilds aren't majorly expensive either compared to sourcing an exchange box or even a new one from Renault.
