Gearbox in F7P

Just wondering whats the best gearbox to be running on a F7p 1.8 vavler lump
Also whats the diffrences between boxs

Can u put any other gearboxes in a valver? Mine keeps breaking the spline pin? or a washer. Any ideas?

try and get hold of a williams gearbox

or, the ph1 172 box can be made to fit if you can find one

the diff circlip... once it pops out the first time, it will keep doing it

i *think* the williams box is the same, for a bolt in circlip you need a 172 box

As matteh said you will find that very often once it pops out once it will continue to do so. I can't remember what the setup is on a williams box but I have never heard of a williams box (JC5) popping the circlip so that would probably be a good option as they are the strongest of the mk1 boxes. The other option is, as matteh said, to go for a 172 gearbox. I am running one with my williams engine and its spot on. The is an issue in that some 172 boxes don't use the same speedo drive as the mk1 boxes but if you go for a 172 cup box you will be ok.

I should also say that you would have to change the engine mount as well if you are to use a 172 box.

K4M is a 1.6 16v ( 99 - present day ) engine used in all renaults



Fit a JB3 974 from a Kangoo 1.9D or a JC5 128 from a clio 1.5D ..... 100 will come quicker but 110 wont come at all

how much quicker would 100 from compared to a say JC2 box ( or what ever the code for a normanl valver box is?)

I have never heard of a williams box (JC5) popping the circlip so that would probably be a good option as they are the strongest of the mk1 boxes.

Williams do pop the cir clips.

A bit quicker but why bother IMo might nas well drop a 2.0 bottom end in at the same time and get there quicker on a stock gearbox etc.
