ive got a clio 1.6 16v rsi 200 plate gearbox has died.
what gearbox will fit?
is the rsi box diffrent to other 1.6 e.g diffrent ratios?

ratio will more than likley be differant but i would say any 1600 16v box will be close, i like the megane/scenic box

Depends best way is subframe off and drop them down out but you idealy need ramps. Otherwise engine and box out the top as one.

Any JC or JB box realy ie anything from a Clio v6 and 197 excepted and loads of other renault sie Megan/senic etc.

the box in my clio has been changed already when i got it 3rd gear syncros had and the gearbox is compleatly dead.
rang renault from the reg i should have a jb3985 is this box only fitted in rsi?

would a box from an early rsi 1800 8v fit?

want a box with clios ratios an same gearing as the rsi is meant to have.

Fit yes but won't have the correct ratios, to be 100% right you want a JB3-985 box as renault say.

Pass, the Mk1 box will have a speedo sender in it too which you don't need/want as the rsi uses the abs for the speedo but might be wrong on that one.

i remember in the old saxo days when people used to put vts/r lumps and use 1.1 gearbox`s as the gear ratio was closer! are the lower engine clio`s the same??

if it dose have a speedo in and mine dont ill just modify an old speedo to blank it off.

at the moment im running a jb3 not sure what one but its not the rsi one and the gear ratios feel crap and has just died so hopefuly its will be better geared.

will all mounts drive shafts clutch ect line up?

my rsi has an electronic pickup where the speedo cable is.

Will probably be a Jb3 box though. Still you want the specific one for it really rather than cutting corners.

yea can get loads of jb3 boxes but not the same as mine.
was it just the jb3958 they use in the rsi and 1.6 16vs?

1.4 16v box should fit. if the speedo is dont off the ABS it doesn't matter if there's a speed sensor in the box, it just doesn't get plugged in. mk1 1.8 8v rsi box is probably a good option
