GEARBOX ISSUES 172- Diesel gearbox???

Hi all. Very new to this forum. I have owed 5 clio 172's now, three phase 1's and two phase 2's. however this phase two I have now is really getting too me now.

basically three gear has started crunching. Unless you drive it like a nun it crunches going up or down gears only in 3rd.

my next question is can I put a diesel gearbox in it? If so a diesel gearbox out of what model etc etc? Mine is a 2002/02

Ratio's will be far too long iirc. A few of the boys running big power turbo conversions have used them but they have 400lbft to pull through the long ratios.

God awful tho!! I hated the one we had in the track car turbo. Removed for a jc5 182
