gearbox problem please help!!!!!!!!!

hi, ive just had an engine replacement, along with a new clutch, anyway, i just picked it up today, and now there's a problem with the gearbox? (it was fine before) anyhow, it won't select gears properly? sometimes it will only go in reverse and 2nd, then its as if something in the box moves and then it will go in every gear apart from 1st an it keeps going back an forth??? long story short, is this a result of bad workmanship from the garage or just a typical clio problem?? the garage says its something to do with the "forks" or summat that sounds like that, lol, plus he's fobbing me off, saying i need a new box + fitting costs?? can anyone advise what my options are??

has he got the clutch plate the r ight way round lol. seen that a few times. i doubt its that as it would be a pain to get gears all the time. the linkage might not b e done up correctly. wont be the forks!

when its selecting the certain gears that it will go in (now an then), its a smooth gear change? its as if something is in the gearbox preventing movement of the stick?? really confused?? lol:S:S
