gearbox problem

can any 1 help me plz, the other day my gearbox desided it had anoth of getting abused and packed up on me. not happy!!!! so i had the gearbox taken out and got some place in birmingham 2 have a look at it and they said it was shagged and would cost £500+ 2 put right, iv seen other boxs at the same sort of price, wot should i do? also will a 182 box fit a phs 2 172? help plz!!!!!!! thanks kieran

I'm sure you can get them reconditioned for less than that though if that includes fitting then its probably not too bad a price. I wouldn't buy a used box as how do you know it works unless its been reconditioned?

Yes a 182 box will go straight on & it just so happens I've got one for sale £250 buys it.
Down side I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne.
