Gearbox rebuild and quaife fitted now whining

Guys

Just a quick one I have had my gearbox rebuilt with all new seals and bearings and also a quaife LSD fitted along with new clutch, I have only drove it about 400 miles so far but it's whines a little at motorway speed in speed but when I give it the beans in 2nd it has quite a loud whining noise is this normal?

For info it was done by a very reputable garage and it drives beautifully, they say it may all be just taking time to bed in, what do you think?

Is it tight going in gear? Sometimes if they havent been set up correctly, and are tight they need time to wear/loosen up. Aslong as the noise doesnt get louder i would try it for a few thousand miles?

Neither of my clios with a quaiffe diff make any significant whining noise that Ive ever noticed TBH.

And likewise none of my previous cars that have had a quaiffe (which is quite a lot TBH, like upwards of half a dozen) have whined either.

Never had any whining with mine. As others have said...should be like standard.

This is both strange and worrying as it could be the box, diff, or many other things that have been done or just me being paranoid.

Surely if something was wrong after 400 mile it would have failed?

Depends what the something wrong is TBH.

400 miles isnt a massive distance.

Diff bearings for example can whine for a few thousand miles before they die sometimes.

Are you sure its not just a wheel bearing?

(thought I'd change tact to blind optimism)

It could be I will have a look when I get home from working away

Or could be the centre bearing on the drive shaft if running the 2'piece shaft setup

checked oil level on the box ?

Not checked anything yet as I collected it then had to leave straight away with work, but will do when I get home at the weekend
