Had a search but couldn't really find a definitive answer to my problem.
I had my gearbox oil changed a couple of months back when it was getting serviced, and recently the gearbox has started making a whining noise at about 60-80mph, but only when accelerating. It does it in 4th and 5th and can just be heard in 3rd too as I reach the top of the rev range. Does it at the same road speed in all these gears.
It only happens under acceleration and goes away if I slow down or put my foot on the clutch. Sounds a lot like the whine you get from a straight cut racing box or a supercharger.
Anyone any ideas what this could be? Am I looking at a new gearbox or does it sound like a fixable problem?
