Gearbox wont go into 4th

As above really, I was driving back from dropping my girlfriend off for her physical for the police yesterday, went to put it in 4th gear, it went in but the popped back out straight away. Hasnt stuck in 4th gear since. Has anyone else had this problem? And does anyone know what I can expect when I take it to a garage?

Noo syncro hasent gone! Sounds like your detents are shot or the springs! Either way box needs to be rebuilt! Unlucky matey!

My car still drives fine, just wont go into 4th

Would it be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand gearbox from someone breaking their clio???

That's what I would do. Talk to steve79 IIRC on here, he regularly breaks RS's and sells the boxes for £250 a pop approx.

buy a 2nd hand one i would or get a custom made 6speed box but be prepared to spend the ££££

6 speed one would be ideal lol bet it would cost a bit though. my car revs at like 4k in 5th sometimes on the moterway, gets annoyin afta a bit.

Ill have to have a look around then.

Yeah it goes into every other gear fine.

It goes into the gear but then pops out straight away. Ill try and get a video if I get chance.

Rev matching is probably a better phrase. If you blip the throttle as you try and get the gear....
