Getting new keys + remote locking

  Jap Box
Would this all need to be taken to Renault directly?

I think my car has remote locking, its got an infared sensor next to the interior light anyway. But my last PH1 had remote locking but didn't have the sensor, was something changed?

Anyway, I only have one key currently and its not got any button on it for the locking. Has anyone got a rough cost on how much it would cost for a new key to be cut and coded so it will work with the cars remote locking?

Also, the passengers lock is seized, can only be opened using central locking button, the key goes into the lock but it won't turn the whole way, I have tried WD40 in the lock various times but it hasnt worked, anyone got a solution?

Last problem is the drivers lock, I think its pretty much on its way out now, you need to turn the key and then put more force on it so the lock raises to unlock the door, but the door pin still doesnt rise all the way up, only partially. However it raises up and down fine with the central locking button, is there something wrong with a cable somewhere?

Thanks to anyone that helps as this is really bugging me.

I believe some of the clios used the infrared type locking which is why you have the sensor type, and others use radio frequency which is a different type of system. I could only hazzard a guess on a new key which could be between £75-£120 depending on the dealer or so ive been informed :) Not sure about your other problems as i have similar ones myself.

Ahh right, if I remember correctl when my mum had a clio it had the infared version as it was complete s**t and you mayaswel have just used the key to open the car as the key literally had to be pointed through the windscreen to work.

My last clio you could unlock from a good 6/7 car lengths away or more, wonder if theres a way I could transfer this unit over to the other car as I should in theory have all of the required items for it to work.

Im getting the locks looked at sometime this week by the dealer the car as bought from, was the car needs a new cat and exaghst I told him id let him use the new one from my other car on there which saves him money, if he will get my locks looked at and fixed :)

Yep, some ph1's have IR remotes, and as you correctly point out its w**k and not worth having.

Any way I could upgrade this to the radio frequency type? Ive got a PH1 with this and all of the parts to work with including ECU etc if needed

I think if you swapped everything (locks, ignition, ECU, UCH) then it should work, but it couldn't be guaranteed as I'm not sure if the looms differ at all.

As I thought :) whats the UCH though? Will be needing new locks also as I had to smash the two off the old car to get into it, couldnt I just wire up the old locks and just use the extra key for the remote locking until I bother to get a new key cut and coded?

Edit: Just realised I would infact need to swap locks anyway, will be needing two new locks :rasp:

;)

The UCH controls all none essential electrical items, such as central locking and headlights. It is coded to the ECU so swap one and without 'decoding' the ECU you need to swap the UCH too I believe?

No idea on that one, but I have both parts available to me anyway :rasp:

Im taking some bits off the car tomorrow so ill see how much extra I can get out for the locking, any idea where the radio sensor will be? Infared sensor + board I assume is in the interior light

I think the central locking receiver as such is contained either in the ECU or the UCH on the ph2.

Someone more technically minded can probably confirm. :)

Ahh right, I know its not in the interior light anyway as I have that next to me now lol.

No problem, can give it a go :)
