Getting paint for respray

Right my dad has just got a hold of a compressor and says he can spray my car for me as long as i get the paint!

Err....but where could it from? I cant see halfords suppling it....

Its 449 Sports Blue so cant make do with spray cans either (special order).

car paint specialists, have a look in the yellow pages

mine matches it to the car aswell, to allow for paint aging/fading etc.

do you know what paint type u need?? acrylic, cellulose, 2k

hi u33db

i work for brown brothers in peterborough and we supply paint. we deal with ici,max mayer and tetrosyl. we could mix this up for you but depends on where you live. there might be a local brown brothers in your area.

the guy who sprayed my car loves ICI paint, its what bmw and merc use i believe and yeah u want 2pack for best result

all the paints, thinniners and hardners for my clio cost just under 300 notes

ive allways had problems with ICI paints & brown brothers.....they never get the match quite right !! theyve closed their branch in swindon quite a while back now, im sure it was only the swindon branch & not all brown brothers are problematic, (personal opinion) Sikkens is a good quality to use go to their web site & they might be able to give you details of a local supplier that can mix it for you.....problem is...most places will only supply bonafide trade....i dont know if they will supply to joe public.....ill ask next time i go to my local supplier (bancrofts) http://www.sikkenscr.com/sikkens/corporate/index.htmhttp://www.sikkenscr.com/sikkens/corporate/index.htm

has your dad ever sprayed a car ?? its not as easy as it sounds/looks ... just remember with metalics esp......preperation is the key to a good finish you wont need to worry too much about a good colour match if your gonna do the whole car.

i reckon your gonna need about 1 litre of base to do the whole car, 1 & 1/2 if your gonna do the shuts as well, get a good quality lacquer too !!

my clio :)

that was for 3l of primer

3l of colour (special mixed motorbike colour)

laquer and hardner and thinners enough for the above

the colour was about 45 quid a liter

Cheers for the info folks!

Yeah hes done a car before (used to do signwriting etc as well) but now looks like its going to a bodyshop as my mates dad owns one. Apparently theyre gonna do it for free as long as i build them some computers - knew that degree would come in handy someday...... ;)
