Rusty Cup
Ok my last week has been a nightmare, my girlfriends car broke down with a suspected clutch/gearbox issue we had it towed to my friends workshop (he breaks cars so has all the tools we might need) he looks under the bonnet tells me the clutch cable has broken and we'll need to get the box out to grease the thrust bearing as thats why its broken and he'll want £90 plus parts to do this. I order a clutch cable annoyed i cant lay my hands on one immediately, the weekend comes and goes, sorry mate cant fix it today seeing the gf!! mean while im getting the train to work and my gf is using the 182 resulting in daily splitter removals!!
Last night he looked at the car again and tells me its the clutch pedal thats broken! que frantic rush to get my hands on one!! i turn up at a scrappy find myself a suitable mk1 clio and get down too trying to remove the clutch pedal.. around 90mins of laying upside down sweating my balls ive done it and its cost me £10 i head off to see if ive got the right pedal to fix the problem.
I get to my mates work place and within 5mins i can clearly see the clutch cable has failed and there is sod all wrong with the clutch pedal!! I drive off with the intention of going to buy a clutch cable, quite frankly a bit pi**ed off ive wasted the morning in a scrap yard. Whilst driving an idea pops into my head and i decide to try something before buying the clutch cable..
A suitable washer and 30seconds with an angle grinder later the car drives fine!!
Its clearly bodged but for a car not worth £150 im happy with what ive achieved
