Gnome/KDE/Xfce? What do you use?

Right, I installed Ubuntu and as you all probably know it uses Gnome desktop by default. I got used to KDE with Redhat and Linspire when I used to use them a couple of years ago, I did get quite fond of it. At first I wasn't to impressed with Gnome, but its grown on me and I know think its much better than before (circa 3-4 years ago) and much better than XP (IMO!).

I installed the latest KDE and Xfce tonight out of curiosity, but think Iĺl stick with good old gnome as it´s much quicker than KDE and prettier than Xfce. Also, I´m not that keen on the Windows KDE feel with the start menu thingy at the bottom. IMO Gnome does this better albeit with 2 system bars.

So Linux geeks what desktop do you use/prefer?

I prefer KDE for eyecandy.. but on servers and stuff I stick with minimalist or no X environment. its all personal preference really..

Gnome with Beryl. Gnome on it's own is too plain now lol

Don't like the current KDE much, like you said it's a bit too much like Windows although I will give KDE 4 a try when it's released.

XFCE is ok but doesn't give me any reason to leave Gnome for it.

Tried E17 last night, whilst it has some nice effects I still prefer Gnome.

That looks more like OSX than XP! :rasp:

E17 started development before OSX/XP was out

I know, I´ve just been reading the site. It does look mighty impressive. I wont give it a go until I can get my ATI graphics card doing 3D property, since a kernel update buggered it up. :dapprove:
