Goddammit not again

Ive still got a leaky roof.

Have cleaned the glass seal and put vaseline on. Have sealed under the sunrrof frame, and also round the outside of the frame. Have also sealed the aerial.

Its no longer coming in through the courtesy light, just through the sunroof switch and CL remote. This area lies directly beneath the motor. Because of the motors presence there is a gap in the metal inner frame where it sits.

Now mine is a pre-drainage hole model so my theory is that the wells are filling up and then the water is just running to the middle of the frame and coming in where this gap exists. Does that sound right?

One more thing. The Renault parts bod said there were 3 sunroof seals. 1 for the frame (comes on a roll), one that the glass sits on, and I cant remember the 3rd. Does anyone know what its for?

Could it be that Im missing an inner seal or something?

mine used to leak around the interior light, until i tightened the ariel up to fook, now it dont.

the sills & bits were stupid money in renault, so i decided to have a go myself at fixing it & that was a 2 sec job on the ariel.

god knows why yours is still leaking tho mate.

Spoke to renault. The 3 seals are for the manual roof not the leccy one! So booked it in for the body shop to have a quick look at.

However. I had another look when I got home, and you know how it is: 20 minutes later the console was off along with the motor and its backing plate! The top of the backing plate was full of water, so I scratched my head and gave up.

Put it back together and thought what the hell, Ill see if the roof winds back or not.

Ill point out now that after having the whole thing out a few weeks back to seal under the plastic outer frame, the roof hasnt been winding back on one side. Its moved a bit and then stopped, whilst also making a ratchety noise. Consequently I havent been abnle to look in to the wells or the seal that the glass sits on.

Anyway, I pushed the button tonight and voila. Back it rolls all the way! So I did it a few times just to make sure, and grinned. At least I dont need a new mechanism!

When I then looked at the wells they were empty, but the inner metal fram was wet on the top, in the middle, at the front. Looked at the glass seal (which Ive vaselined before) and there was water on the inner edge.

So I think Ive finally found the culprit. Only thing is these seals are about £80 or something ridiculous, so if it turns out not to be that then it may tip me overboard. Think Ill keep vaseline-ing it regularly just to make sure first.

Fingers bloody crossed this time.

I have a weird problem (hehe) ive had leaky sunroofs in my old cars, but in this one... the water comes from behind the stereo, and leaks down the side of the middle lump.. No idea where it comes from, only does it sometimes
