Going to attempt a DIY refurb, any hurdles?

I'm going to refurb my Turinis myself I think. Apologies for the attrocious pictures, the digital camera is dead so have had to use my phone.

Now I know the kerbing isn't highly visible on these pictures but it is there.

Wheel 3 is the best, then 4, then 1 and 2 is the worst. The majority of the kerbing has been touched in with Audi Crystal Silver touch up as a temporary measure. I've read Notorious' guide but it's a tad vague.

My questions and concerns are:

1. There are areas of exposed alloy that have recently appeared. Shall I just rub back the edge of the paint and prime or touch in then flat and prime?

2. I will be performing this with tyres in place. The edges and valves are my problem here as I don't want flaking. Any special masking to be used or techniques?

3. What quantities of primer, paint and lacquer am I likely to require?

Apologies for the questions but I want to get this right as I potentially have another 2 sets to sort.

Cheers.

Im going to do my F1s soon. I think the key is preperation, if you do a search on the forum theres a step by step guide somewhere.

get a small wire brush out on the kerbing and start the repairs from scratch.. as for masking just get the normal stuff but a good few rolls as you may find yourself re-doing it due to water messing it up in the wet/dry stages.. most important is clean the tyres off with a window cleaner or white spirit etc, you need 100% them tyreglow/sh1t free or it wont stick..

do one wheel start to finish so you learn by your feckups, i made a right hashup of my first wheel as the surface wasnt 100% and i was to soft when keying the surface before lacquer, it all went blotchy.. room temp and prep between primer, colour, and lacquer are important, i just needed to do a little more to make mine perfect..

did my 5gtt wheels

I'll see what I can do. I've done a set before but I didn't put enough effort into sorting the kerb damage.
