Going to attempt to PC car!

  Megane Trophy
Got some G10, new pad and Rotary from work!

So sunday im going to attack the 172, as with the bumper all repainted the swirl marks are annoying me.

Bodyshop guy says go fast over the whole car and dont concentrate on an area, get it the 3rd or 4th time i go over it with the pc.

Go steady

Rotarys can burn paint, and remove large amounts of clearcoat if you are not careful.

Try watching some videos of the PC being used by Pros, there are a few on the net. It will give you an idea of the speed/techniques involved.

I had a go about 10 years ago when I worked in a bodyshop, check on youtube for vids as my info is from memory and that isnt always 100%!

Hold the pad FLAT against the bodywork with your left hand (if your right handed) as the edges will introduce holograms, work the machine (move it around with your right hand. left hand for pressure, right hand for movement.
You can get a spray bottle of water to help the process (some of the lads did this when using G3 at my old work) dont forget to mask your plastics! One panel at a time work it on a slow speed first and build speed up for paint correction and to break down the polish but.....

Take your time on the job, dont rush it but that also means DONT leave the rotary on one area, keep it working and keep checking area untill you figure out how much paint you are taking off.
DONT go mad on plastics, one pass at a time or the paint could peel off with the heat created and be carefull on all panel edges where the paint is thinner.

The technique is different between a PC and a Rotary.

Dont go fast as you will create more marks.

Take your time and work in small areas (18" squares) at a time.

Make sure you do plenty of passes & make sure you break the product down properly.

A complete car should take approx 8-14hrs to complete

Careful now! Tho you'd have to be an idiot to burn the paint!! Like seriously leave it on full blast for about 30seconds on the same spot!!

he advised me on G10 not G3, and said get the mop head really wet, then apply the product and go really fast all over, not worrying about missing areas

do the whole car 5 or so times this was you dont concentrate on areas and then remove polish.

Its a variable speed rotary thing much like a grinder

Have you seen the results some body shops achieve using a rotary on brand new paint?

Take your time and you will only need to do each panel once

  106 GTi
Will take more than a spritz of QD to remove rotary holograms!

They are actually marks left in the paint by the machines pad.
