Looks tidy... Don't be put off if the thumb grips have worn on the wheel it's a common problem.

damn weather, started raining before we left so had to see the car covered in rain, did look a proper clean straight car though, cs sticker in the rear window too but he said that was from the previous owner (who was a copper), it's due a service and hasn't had the cambelt changed, whats a cambelt etc cost on these?

  Leon Cupra 300
Cambelt variey vastly, from 600 from a Reno dealer to 400 from a specialist... I'd personally go to a specialist as they have probably done more than some 19yr old trainee and will be a damn site cheaper.

tbh I'd use a specialist if they cost more, like you say it's a 19 yr old trainee half the time if you take it to the stealers, aint no way I'd trust my vee to Renault.

not sure what to do now, guy says he'll take 4800 but I think I could get him down to 4500 (with cambelt might be £5k), but then there's others around with cambelt already done for a little over 4k, problem is, as usual, none of them are local :S

I'd say 4500 without the cambelt done, that mileage and if it's as straight as it seems then it's a good price.

Its an import mate, try use that card

Near identical plate to my black one, FP51 imported and sold via Motorpoint in Derby. Try use that card, only difference i had was no alarm and the book pack was foreign lol. Oh, and i paid £3250 for it in Nov last yr ;)

i think 172s have dropped price loads recently 4-5k seems to be right for a mk2 172, been looking for the past couple months!

I don't think they have dropped loads. I paid 6.4k for my 51 plate, 28k FF back in September '05. If I got 5k for it now i'd be laughing.

well i apyed 6k for mine 3 month ago and i couldnt find a decent low milage one at a dealer cheaper

  m-tec bmw 325 ci spo
i paid 5800 for mine with 7 thousands miles on it in july and a it apparently had a years warrnty on it but i fouind out that renault are arses when my engine blew

£4850 got me a one owner 02 plate 57k flamer, had to travel 700 mile round trip to get it though!

  Iceberg 172
I'd say 4800 is about right given the good condition, maybe slightly less in view of the cambelt needing doing. 51-plates rarely make over 5k these days, especially privately.

How did you get on?
