going to strip my car

  182 and cherokee 4.0
want to get this done over the weekend. does anyone have any clues or tips on where to start, how far to go, how hard it is etc etc? i want to be able to put the vast majority of it back if need be for if i ever come to sell the car so that it at least looks nearly standard.

also i am getting it custom mapped by fastchip, how will i work out the new weight? will i need to weigh each individual thing that comes off?

cheers ;)

Take a bit out at a time. Because if you take to much out and find its to noisey etc for a daily driver you will regret doing it. Seen a few ppl on here with the idea of stripping the car down then finding out its not for them.

^sensible advice. you could probably start just by removing the stuff in the boot and the rear seat back and bench, which shouldn't take long. should give you a good idea of the pros/cons of continuing (although pros will diminish, as you've taken most of the easy weight out already)

good stuff, think i'll start with the rear seats then. already took the sound deadening etc from under the bonnet, removed rear wiper and motor etc.

do people normally take all the plastic trim out such as on the inside of the boot lid and around the parcel shelf? how about the door cards roof lining etc?

i just don't want to start taking out something i won't be able to put back in or for it to end up looking half arsed that's all!

Well i drove mine without the rear seats and a few other bits and it was fine its the best place to start, rear bench weights a bit and made a difference to me anyways, not really any road noise difference either take the spare out aswell haha

it doesn't have a spare mate. got rid of the jack n that out the boot, that weighs a fair bit. a nah am gonna end up getting carried away and left with a bare shell that a can't put back together haha

Yer i know what you mean it might seem a bit daunting at first, but just take it slow.

start from the back inside, rear seats, parcel shelf, boot interior, anything u can unscrew/unbolt and get out easily out the back.

Might be able to take the car to a scrappy and ask them to weigh it if they have the right apparatus to do so.

Weigh it before you remove the stuff then do it again after to see how much you have achieved.:)
