going to view a 120k cup

Car  iceberg phase 2 172
hi guys going to view a 172 cup on the weekend , its had the belts done around 5months ago , what else there to look at at this milage ? also how bad do these rust ?

At that mileage I'd just check it's had some bushes changed etc as they will be worn out a bit. Shocks too. As long as it's had regular oil and filter changes and belts done it should be ok. They don't rust in my experience. Seen some tiny bubbles on rear arches of a Ph1 but that's it.

As said above, they don't rust that much. Just check the boot floor, and inner wings for any accident damage as normal, and make sure it's got decent history

General wear and tear things like you would on any car mate. Tyres, brakes, exhaust etc

Also see if the cambelt was done by somebody who knows these cars and not "tippex timed" by someone.

Not sure on your budget, but theres one in for sale section on here with less miles than that for £1850. If you get one off here chances are it will have the things you would want to do to it already done...

They only rust from either very unlucky stone chips or badly repaired damage.

(Bonnets and tailgates excluded, they rust on the seams for a past time)

Just got back into a 172 cup after selling the ff last year. 90k. No doubt some bits need doing so will be taking it to a specialist (fred)
