Golf VR6 race

Im just trying to think of the last time I saw a VW beating a Renault in a motorsport event....
You must all love your cars like i love mine, but i just had the impression they were owned by one of the following types of people:
A: Young Lady 17-30.
B: 17 year old boy, first car.
C: People who dont really care what their driving about in.
I can now obviously add you lot to the list:
D: People who actually LIKE clios!
You learn something new everyday!
Has anyone actaully said that a 1.4 Clio is faster/better than a VR6?
Answer - NO!!!!!
Id be pretty certain that if I was in my 172 and say Jason Plato, or someone of that ilk, was in a 1.6 16V clio, that he would beat me around a twisty back road.
Does that mean the 1.6 16V is better than the 172?

BTW 172MAN, just picked up a brand new MK2 172 brochure from the dealers, what do I see when I look in the back at the weight.........1035KG!
See, I thought that what happened was that the golf pulled out in front of him and did that really annoying thing of not getting with the flow of traffic but driving really slowly. The fella in the clio over took him and he VW boy got peeved and started driving like a tw*t?

I dont dispute that Clio V6s or 172s are quick decent handling cars at all!
Its whatever turns you on as they say!
One thing i do know, is french cars are built to a very low standard and start to look dog eared after a couple of years!

My valvers 10 years old and only in the last week have i noticed a tiny orange spot on the wing. I cant think of a single Mk2 golf that Ive seenthat didnt have rust on it - several Mk3s too. The Mk3s being newer I guess thats down to how well the cars looked after.
Golf Owner = Someone who takes pride in their car! Buys a car for its all round Quality, Comfort, performance and Handling! VW have the biggest cult following of enthusiasts than any other manufacturer! This you cant dispute!
They made the original Hot-Hatch and if it wasnt for the MK1 Golf i dont think your clios would be about? agree?
"Quality" - you may not be aware of this word but run and get a dictionary and youll see what i mean!
Kind of a generalising there, french cars arent the best but theyre not that bad. Im perfectly happy with the fit and finish of my car, especially for a supermini.
Would you get a VW lupo instead of one of these if you were an 18 year old like me?

im sorry im getting involved now my god have you ever sat in a vr6 the interior is bloody horrible all there is is black plastic even my mate who owns it hate the inside of it and boy does it drink fuel and it is very front heavy.
oh and the new golf gti handles like a sponge on wheels
oh and build quality out of the 3 people i know that own new golfs 2 have been returned as they fell to bits and the 3rd hasnt stopped been in the garage. Yes you will say that this isnt the norm but why isnt it how do we know vw owners just dont complain about faults because they dont want to ruin the image thecars have for been sooooooo reliable and such high quality ???
