gonna have to ask a noob question sorry. fill level - brakes?

  RS182 Full Fat
so i cleaned the resiviour a bit as much as i could reach to. Is there a fill level on the side ?.. if so how would anyone see it??

I only want to top it up, as I have the STOP and Handbrake light flickering occasionaly. Can i just bung any amount i want in it or does it have to be accurate?

thanks

If you have no brake fluid leaks, inspect the brake pads for wear & replace if they are down to the backplate.
Topping up a reservoir when the pads have had it will cause you no end of grief when you realise the problem & replace the pads

too late.. already did it. lol. Thanks for reply though. When I get round to it I'll probably have the discs and pads changed all round and the brake fluid replaced. I won;t do that myself though.. too hard for me. Of topic but if i had a 4pot brake kit fitted will the abs and esp still work? and will they fit behind standard 182 alloys? ta

A small drop in brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir can be "topped up" but if the level consistently drops, the cause should be investigated and repaired. Brake fluid level in the master cylinder will drop as the linings (pads or shoes) wear and the calipers or wheel cylinders extend further to compensate. Overspill from pushing back pistons should be avoided, because glycol based fluid will quickly lift or strip paints and other coatings on contact (it can be removed by quickly washing with water, not wiping). Brake fluid level may also be low because of a leak, which could result in a loss of hydraulic pressure and consequently a significant loss of braking ability.

If to much it will just evaporate if it spills over

What !!!! That must be the worst piece of "advice" I've ever seen on here.

As mentioned in the last post, brake fluid is horribly corrosive stuff. It WON'T just evaporate, it'll try to remove paint and other coatings it comes in contact with. Brake fluid is also flammable, I've seen it catch fire many times in the past when dripped on to hot exhaust manifolds. If any is spilled, clean it off immediately.

@NCC-74656 I've got a set of Compbrake 4 pots coming of my car this week which I'll do you a good price on, they have new DS3000 pads, freshly skimmed discs and have just been fully rebuilt and cleaned and come with a spare set of internal seals for the next rebuild. They just bolt onto your car with the OE lines (no fabricating needed). They also fit over any 16"s and will fit over all the Renault 15"s. Reason I'm selling they don't fit over my Sparco 15" track wheels.

PM me if interested.
