Car  DCI100
And the screen? Looking for one not to sure where i can find them as i'd like to keep my steering wheel controls.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

any good audio place will sort it out for you. tell them your model etc and they will have a conector that converts the head unit to utilize the std wheel controls

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

sweet cheers buddy:) that's next job seen as I have no audio at the moment :p

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

Hi Owen,

What Stephen said is correct, you can get stalk adaptors for most head units.

However, you mentioned you wanted screen integration too. As far as I know, the only manufacturer to offer full screen integation (shows volume, radio station, track names from ipod etc.) is Alpine.

You have to buy their own stalk/display adaptor (about £75.00 i think).

Some of the cheap units will just show "RENAULT" or similar on the screen the whole time.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

I've got an awesome alpine unit in the for sale section.

Bluetooth, phone prep, still works with the standard dash screen and comes with the lead for the hand controls...

Its up for £100 posted.

I can vouch for this. £75 for the lead, but then you get the screen and wheel-controls.

You need to have a decent HU though, the cheapest ones wont do it, mid-range and above with "remote display" or similar

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

you willing to take offers mate? I'm mainly interested in the wiring as s I'll probably change the head unit in the future. maybe we could do a deal with the stealth parcel shelf as well? were abouts are you, and does the parcel shelf come with the jbl speakers.cheers for your advice people I'll keep you posted on how I get on.

What alpine head unit is it mate? Do you know the model number?

Cheers

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

does it do remote-display out? If not, then you've still got a dead dash-top pod?

Here it is. http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?606348-CLIO-GARAGE-CLEAROUT!-ALL-GOOD-STUFF-AND-CHEAP!

It works with the steering wheel controls AND the standard display at the top of the dash.

(excuse the wiring mess, some extra wires in there for some reason, you can have them if you want! lol)

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

might have to look at taking that parcel shelf off your hands, where abouts are you (whether to post / collect)

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

Works with the controls. Display I'm not so bothered about, personally. Full iPhone/iPod control and proper Bluetooth support, without having to stick loads of extra s**t behind my dash, is what I go for.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

any idea on the partsnumber for that lead?

Bluetooth I go through my Sat Nav for, and iPod is just 1 lead.... well, ok that's not strictly true. Behind my HU I've got.

iPod & USB leads (trailing to glovebox)
TomTom integration lead (phone and/or nav commands through head unit)
Dash display & stalk Lead

It's a tight fit.

any idea on the partsnumber for that lead?

Sorry, no. There are 2 different leads, depending on what HU you're taking out (update / tuner list).

I'm in Bristol but travel about a lot.

There's an app for that s**t. Co-Pilot on my iPhone (which is better than any stand alone Sat Nav I've ever used), iPhone plugged into the dash with full control with the headunit - meaning I can scroll through Artists, Album etc. Bluetooth connected for when I get a call, microphones are built into the headunit so I didn't even need to run those.

When driving I can listen to music, the music pauses for Sat-Nav directions then comes back again. If I get a call all of that stuff gets paused except for the screen which keeps displaying the route, returns to normal after I hang up.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

You must have had some rubbish sat navs if you're saying an iPhone 'app' is superior.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

Nope. Used loads of really high end ones. It's a really good app, smooth, decent voice, free updates for life etc.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

anyway, back to the point.

Alpine headunit.
with the dash-top lead.
you're winning

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

thanks for your help:) can anyone suggest a suitable unit out of the Alpine range? how about pioneer? I have about 130 to play with. then a bit more for connections and stuff. x cheers guys

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

I have that one...it's bloody great, got it with the external processor aswell.

please please let me know the part no for that 75 pound cable......

for 130? no, not really.

if you want to keep that dashpod going, as said, that's 75 straight away

And then you need a HU with "Vehicle display interface"

And that'll be......

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

no idea at all. Can't find any sign of them on Alpine site.

And I'm not dragging half my wiring look out in the dark tonight! :)

Is the Imprint kit actually worth having though? Bare in mind I dont have anythng more than standard speakers (powered by the HU) and a sub

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

i dunno yet, haven't had time to finish the install.
I have audessey (which is what imprint is) on my home amp and it works wonders there.
looking for a 4 channel amp so I can drive the doors and tweets seperately and have the proc do all the filtering.
I think it will be able to set the timing of each driver seperately ...should make for a good soundfield.

is it worth it, probably not...but I like messing with stuff..

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

Doesn't the imprint kit just "listen" to the music in the cabin and adjust timings etc. to make the best of whatever is in place?

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

yup, that it does.......
It sends a signal to each speaker and adjusts accordingly, not just timings, but also frequency/ acoustics

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

well that takes all the fun away from pissing about with the settings all the time!

:)

2-part kit though isn't it? 1 for the microphone and software, 1 for the actual processor?

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

I love how of track this has got lol! all interesting though. well im on the hunt for a decent head unit now. just don't really want to spend shot loads when other.bits.of the car need work as well.

sorry about that...signing off....

I do rate Pioneer aswell, and some of the can use an SD card, no messing with usbsticks etc.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

But then you need an card reader on your computer etc, rather than just plugging it in.

Swings and roundabouts tbh.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

Ive got the Alpine CDE-9880R which is connected to my stalks, and ive got my ipod living in my glovebox connected to it 24/7. Works perfectly, although it just says Renault on the screen with the time, but you get all your track information through the headunit anyway, so ive never been bothered. The wiring is VERY tight. When I first had the headunit, when pushing in it used to pull out my hazard switch, locking and rear heated window buttons. I thankfully know a car electronic specialist who sorted it all out for me as I'm lazy and its easier if you know what your doing, so now there's plenty of room :) Id imagine you could get this issue sorted.
I'm able to select all of my playlists, tracks, artists etc using the headunit. I can control the volume, next/previous track, playlist up and down using the stalk control. Best investment I've made I think, love it.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

That's the one I've got!

It does hook up to the dashpod using the £75 cable too.

What's the point really though? Surely it will show the same information that's being shown like a foot below! The clock & temp still work which is all I care about tbh.

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

well, I use the dash-top for track, the HU screen for artist / time.

Also, primarily, it means I dont have a useless dash-top pod. I know the car is a Renault already

Arhhh, I see! Yeah, I often forget so its nice to be reminded everytime I get in. Where did you get the lead from?

Re: Good aftermarket headunit which is compatible with the steering wheel control....

Cambridge Car Audio, but any proper Alpine vendor should be able to help source one.

Oh, I forgot to say, I use blackout too, so the HU isn't lit up all the time.
