Good Price? Or too cheap?

  Hondata'd EP3 Type R
Went to look at a 2004, Clio Dynamique 1.2 16v yesterday, Black in very very good condition, With 25k on the clock, From a garage. 1 Owner from new with original purchase recipt, Didnt get chance to look @ service history.

I've HPI'd it, And the only thing that come back was a plate change, Presumeably meaning its hada private plate on it. Its had one owner since new and has 12 months mot and 6 months tax. All for £4200, I'm going to pay cash, So could haggle cheaper, But its up for £4200 on sale from £4995.

However, I went to another garage, And they had an older (53) Extreme with more miles for £5,000, And a Dynamique with 40k for £5,100.

They said go back and bite his hand off, So i did and it was closed. They got a book out and said guide price on a dynamique is £5,000 with 40k

But it got me thinking, Why is this so cheap? I know its a garage so more than private, But looks a good deal!

I've had 2 cars from there before with no problems (albeit less than £1000 sheds).

I'm thinking of going back monday and biting his hand off.

Any think i should know about regarding mileage? Any expensive services coming up?

Thanks

Where the hell do they get their prices from?

I'd bite his hand off at that mate, I have the exact same car, even down to the mileage and that is a good buy to be honest. I'll be advertising mine private for more than that...!

This is from the vauxhall site where you can value your car

Renault Clio Dynamique
1.2 Petrol 3-door Hatchback
5 Speed Manual Front Wheel Drive
Year: 2004 04
Mileage: 29,000

Part-exchange Price:
Excellent condition:
£3730

Average condition:
£3380

Below average condition:
£3000

I looked at a 182 which was £7495 reduced by £1k - it's the end of the year and garages are reducing prices before the new year price drops (new month + new year drops)
