Good value trackday pads

  ITB'd MK1
I liked the bite on the Mintex pads. Decent for road and track application. Plus minimal dust and noise. Pedal was gettin longer after a lap of the ring tho...

I like mintex too. Some ATE blue fluid should see you a bit more heat resistant

I got a set of RC5+ all round in my 197 and after hearing all the stories on here i didnt know what to expect but they are very civilised, the sqeaking isnt even that bad!

Only thing i'd say is the brake dust is a little immense, but coming from EBC RedStuff i would expect that.

And the way they stop you is enough to put up with any side effect . :star:

Thanks. I have been advised by a couple of garages to leave the rear brakes alone (other than hoses) as it can upset the rear too much under hard braking.

My backs stripped, lowered and has braided lines + Carbon Lorraines and i dont really get any more twitching under heavy braking than i did before the mods.

The ESP will keep everything in check and a straight line anyway mate.

Thanks, noted. I’ve just spoken with a mechanic at Ktec who advised to upgrade the rear pads when doing the front so as to keep the same pad material and heat range front and rear. So I’ve ordered a set of RC5+’s for the rear as well. Will be able to fit them all and test at the weekend. Next track-day is the 4th May!! Do you ever turn your ESP off on the track?

no i keep it on mate, your only gonna gain a couple seconds a lap with it off, assuming you have the talent to make the most of the new limit.

Personally i'd rather be abit slower and not smash my car up trying to boost my ego lol.

When you fit the pads dont use the back padding cos they wont fit in the calipers with it on!

Dont need ESP on on track, its far too panicky and cuts poer all too often when not required!! ABS though I would leave on!

I didn't think to turn the ESP off, but will try it with and then without next time. It is not possible to turn the ABS off - not that you would really want to!!

(Noted re pad back padding - thanks)
